The Gruvs ("we", "us") helps you discover events, connect with other vibers, and build your talent profile. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

Information we collect

• Account — email, username, display name, and profile details you provide (bio, photos, interests).
• Date of birth / age — collected at sign-up to confirm you are 18 or older. The Gruvs is an 18+ nightlife app; we use your birth date only for age verification and birthday features.
• Location — with your permission, your approximate/precise location is used only while the app is in use to show nearby events and vibers. We do not track your location in the background. You can disable location in your device settings or use Ghost mode in-app.
• Camera & microphone — accessed only when you choose to post media, scan a ticket, or make a voice/video call. We do not access them in the background.
• Messages & content — direct messages and content you post (events, reels, stories, comments, check-ins) so the app can deliver them.
• Activity — events you RSVP to, vibes, reactions, follows, and how you use the app.
• Device — push notification token (if enabled) and basic technical data for reliability.

How we use it

• Provide and personalise the app (recommendations, nearby discovery, your talent/career profile).
• Notifications you opt into (event reminders, messages, mentions).
• Safety, fraud prevention, and to enforce our Terms.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Data is processed by our infrastructure providers (e.g. Supabase for database/auth, hosting providers) solely to run the service. Public profile fields, posts, and event participation may be visible to other users by design.

Your choices & rights

• Edit or hide profile details, and control discoverability and online status in-app.
• Disable location and push notifications at any time.
• Delete your account from Profile → Settings → Security; deletion is permanent and erases your data. See how to delete your account.
• Request access to or correction of your data by contacting us.

Data retention & security

We keep data while your account is active and remove it on deletion (subject to legal obligations). All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), and access is protected by authentication and database row-level security. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it with third parties for advertising.

Age requirement

The Gruvs is an 18+ app and is not directed to children. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We verify age at sign-up and remove accounts we learn belong to anyone under 18.
